What it involves

Weighted tuning forks are struck and then held against acupuncture points, or against bone, so that the vibration carries into the tissue. You feel a steady hum rather than anything sharp, and no skin is broken.

Who it suits

It is the obvious route for anyone who does not want needles, and for children — Dana treats from age ten. It is also useful over an area that is too sensitive to needle on a particular day.

Dana is trained in Acutonics, which is the framework she works from when choosing which fork goes where.

Being straight about it

The clinical research behind tuning fork therapy is much thinner than the research behind acupuncture and electroacupuncture. Dana uses it because patients report it helps and because it gives her a way to treat people who will not be needled, not because there is a strong evidence base. If that matters to you, choose one of the others.
